The Mile High Jazz Band Association formed in 2001 as a nonprofit corporation to support the MHJB and its subgroup, the Millennium Bugs (jazz combo), promote live jazz performance in northern Nevada, educate the public about jazz, and enrich the cultural life of the community. Member benefits include mailings, discounts on admissions, and invitations to special events, plus the satisfaction of helping big-band jazz to thrive!

On behalf of the organizing committee for "Jazz! Carson City," I want to thank all the individuals who contributed to the success of the festival. Although, economically speaking, this was a tough year, jazz lovers and other civic-minded citizens came together to make this work. We are still evaluating the festival, but many of us on the committee believe that bringing the summer jazz festival to various locations downtown and elsewhere in the town contributed to the success. If we are able to present this type of festival in 2010, this downtown component will likely be a part of the festival. We encourage you to come back to this site to check on the progress towards a 2010 festival. Meanwhile, we encourage you to enjoy the jazz events that are on-going in various Carson City restaurants and other venues. And, finally, we welcome your input. Let us know what you think would help us create another great festival.

WHEN: Main Events - August 21-23, 2009
Lead-in performances start August 11

WHAT: The summer sizzles! Mile High Jazz Band Assoc., local businesses, and jazz lovers proudly continue the annual August jazz festival started in 2004.

WHERE: Multiple Venues! Outstanding regional jazz artists will play for you at Third Street, the Farmers Market, Comma Courtyard, Laxalt Plaza, State Museum, Railroad Museum, Firkin & Fox, Comma Coffee, Doppelgangers, B'Sghetti's, Greenhouse Garden Center, the Brewery Arts Center, the Legislative Plaza, and more.

WHO: More than 100 musicians in about 20 bands! Performers include Sol Jibe (8/21), Reno Jazz Orchestra with Cami Thompson (8/23), New World Jazz Project, Colin Ross, Ken Davidson Trio, Jazz Guys, Two Plus quintet, George Hanepen Trio, Me & Bobby McGee, GC Quartet, Hot Two+One, Mile High Jazz Band, Jazz Steps, First Take (jam sessions with Rick Metz), Millennium Bugs, and many more!
