Grant Davis, 15 year old singer-songwriter, recently won the "Is My Child a Star?"

BAC Artisans Store and the new Foodies Bystro. Event starts at noon, music at 1:00 p.m.
Even in the high altitude and crisp air of the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains
an artist can dream of the bright lights of Broadway or the star-paved streets of
Hollywood. Seemingly light years away from the star-making machinery, recording artist
and entertainer, Grant Davis, has attempted other paths to stardom along the way. He's
played baseball, basketball, golf, football, and skiing too, but nothing resonated
deeply within his body except one summer night when he auditioned for a play at a
local theatre. As Grant explains it, "Hi, I am a fifteen year old singer, actor,
and overall performer, who more than anything wants to entertain others...Welcome to my world."

Vocal Improvisation with Marsh Brodeur - Tuesday 8/7/2012 - 7:00-8:30 p.m. -
Brewery Arts Center Ballroom - 449 W. King St.
(Special Event)
The Mile High Jazz Band Association and the Brewery Arts Center present Marsh Brodeur
in a lecture/demonstration on vocal improvisation called
"Vocal Improvisation Ain't All Scat." In his lectures Marsh discusses what vocal improvisation
is at it's soul. He explains the language within the language within. That scat is only one
style of vocal improvisation like Bebop is one style of jazz. He discusses why so many
people don't like scat but love vocal improvisation. How the biggest hurdles to being a
great improvisational vocalist are psychological and how you can make that fact work
for you in music, acting and in life. You do not have to be a singer or a musician to
get something meaningful from this entertaining presentation.
This is a free event.
Marsh Brodeur is a multitalented singer, songwriter, musician, and author
who has been performing since he was old enough to talk. With varied musical
influences from every genre, Marsh became a diverse singer and performer. His voice
is rich and smooth – and has a surprising range. He can sing anything from Mel Torme
and Perry Como… to Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder, and excels as an improvisational jazz
singer.
Information about Marsh:
- International Award winning composer/scorer for film and television.
- Professional jazz vocalist and performer.
- Teaches jazz improvisation and performance singing at the Masters level.
- Music Director for international award winning film and television Production Company, H&A Productions.
- Published author of Timing unmasked, an introduction to timing for actors.
- Vocal Consultant to HBO
- Multi-Telly Award winner
- Conducts lectures and workshops in timing for actors and public speakers
